There can never be a better yesterday, let me help you create a better tomorrow. My name is Alex Welsh, founder of Moss & Moonstone. I am a holistic Certified Postpartum Doula trained through Birth Arts International. I serve families in Rochester, MN and the surrounding areas as well as virtual support anywhere.

I holistically guide new parents and families of all types through their journey. Its my job to nurture, care for, educate , and give you a voice for advocacy allowing you and your family to feel empowered and confident. Every family is different and unique, I holistically meet those needs specific to you. Beautiful births, traumatic births, caesarean births, NICU experience, anything and everything. I am here to support your healing process and your family through it all. Your journey and your story will be heard, you will be seen, your needs will be understood, and you will feel as though you have another partner.

I am a mother, a caesarean birther, a NICU mom, a fur baby mom, and lover of all things natural and peaceful. My journey began when I had my son at just 26 weeks. He was born 1 pound and 14 ounces. I not only had him early but he was breech and backwards. It ended up being a very difficult c-section and and 86 day NICU stay. This being one of my biggest inspirations of becoming a doula. Along my journey of healing I realized how uneducated I was, how unheard I was, how little my concerns and needs were being heard. I was even shushed by many doctors every time I attempted to tell my birth story even though I was lucky enough to be there to tell it. 

As time went on I had all this knowledge from my own health journey, my NICU journey, my journey as a mom, and nothing to do with it. I became a doula because I never wanted another mother, family, or anyone to have to feel unheard especially when it could save their life. To me no one should ever feel dismissed. Having a soft ear to listen to you in such a delicate time can make all the difference. I feel beyond honored that I can take my experience and be able to understand what so many cannot when it comes to traumatic births and NICU experience. I inspire to continuing to grow my knowledge as a doula and a mother and be able to touch the lives of others. I now have a perfectly healthy toddler and a beautiful family of course not with out its many messes.
